A dominant Nigeria’s Flamingos today in Morocco surprised even themselves by beating the defending champions North Korea 3-1 to qualify for the Round of 16 of the on-going FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals in the Group B last match at Pitch 1 of  Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.
Two first half goals scored by striker Oluwakemi Adegbuyi (15′) and Oluebube Umejiaku (38′) who replaced Captain Harmony  Chidi in the starting line-up today well as the third goal in the  the second half converted by Kanyinsola Yusuf (56′) were all that Nigeria needed to dethrone the defending champions who managed to score a consolation goal by forward YU Jong Hyang (82′) towards the end of the highly explosive encounter.
Even a late onslaught by the North Koreans who staged a siege in Nigeria’s goalmouth with triple attempts on  goal in 90’+6′ by YU Jong Hyang ; 90’+7 by RI Kyong Im and 90’+8′ by KIM Won Sim did not yield any positive results as Flamingos’ No.1 goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho refused to be beaten the second time until the match ended 3-1 in favour of Nigeria.
