Morocco’s top women’s football club, Association Sportive des Forces Armées Royales (ASFAR) on Sunday walloped defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns women’s football team of South Africa 4-0 in the final of the 2nd CAF Women’s Champions League at Stade Prince Moulay in Rabat.
A second half hat-trick by ASFAR forward, Ibtissam Jharidi and one goal by sensational leftfooter Fatima Tagnout from the penalty spot early in the first half ensured that the host country’s club lifted the CAF Women’s Champions League cup with aplomb.
It was a match the South Africans played so badly and paid dearly for their lack of discipline and cohesion as two of their players were given the marching orders for reckless tackles on ASFAR players in the early minutes of the second half.

Tagnout had put ASFAR in front in the 15′ from the penalty spot while Jharidi made it two goals in the 52′ and from that time the floodgates of goals opened for the more purposeful Moroccan team. The Mamelodi Sundowns side did not have the antidotes of the trickery of their opponents.
ASFAR’s Jharidi was to score a hat trick in the match as Sundowns let themselves down just as the Moroccan side was the better of the two clubs hence the high scoreline on the day.
The South Africans tried to fight back late on with Adline Morifi operating from The left side of the pitch being the brightest player on a day the entire team was poor with the Moroccans running riot till the end of the encounter.
At the end of the two weeks competition, ASFAR won the trophy and Gold medal; Mamelodi Sundowns got the Silver while Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria received the Bronze medals and the Fair-play Award.

Also, ASFAR goalkeeper Khadija Er-rmichi received the Best Goalkeeper Award; teammates Fatima Tagnaout won the Best Player Award and
forward, Ibtissam Jharidi got the Higest goalScorer Awards.
Team Captain Aziza Rabbah later received the trophy from the CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to rousing cheering of the Moroccan fans.
