Nigerian-born striker, Ijeh powers Växjo DFF to Premier League in Sweden

Goalpoacher…Evelyn Ijeh Växjö DFF ace striker with 19 goals in 22 games.

Even with the last match of the 2022 season against Bergdalens IK at Borås Arena tomorrow yet to be played, Nigerian-Swedish striker, Evelyn Ijeh and her Växjö DFF 

have mathematically won the Elitettan, the 1st Division of the Sweden women’s football league which ends on Saturday, October 22.

 
This is even as Växjö DFF tops the Elitettan with a total of 59 points after 23 matches plus 59 goals difference which have already qualified them to play in the Damallsvenskan, Sweden Women’s Premiership next season.
 
Växjö DFF closest rivals IK Uppsala FC has 51 points plus 44 goals while the third team, IFK Norrköping FK has raked in  51 points plus 42 goals difference and by the virtue of the above statistics Växjö DFF has won the league  with one match to spare.
 
Speaking exclusively to Prompt News  today from his base in Sweden on the Saturday’s away match to Bergdalens IK, Växjö DFF Sporting Director, Dennis Poppelryd, said his club is as good as the league champion irrespective of the outcome of the the last match at Borås Arena on Saturday.
 
According to him:“Tomorrow we will hopefully get promoted. We look forward to the match against Bergdalens IK and I believe my team is adequately prepared to get over the line with another win to end the season on high”.
 
Poppelryd also said that the players are highly motivated to grind out a comfortable result in the game against Bergdalens IK at Borås Arena.
 
Meanwhile, Nigerian-born Ijeh, daughter of former Nigerian International striker Peter Ijeh leds her club’s top-scorer table with 19 goals in 22 league appearances.
 
The 21 year-old whose goals have helped her team to return to the elite division is closely followed by Mattis Strömgren, 24 who scored 11 goals in 20 appearances while Hadda Stokki 20, scored 9 goals in 21 appearances just as Head Coach  Oloff Unogård has done a great job so far this s
