Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia join Ghana in 3rd Round ahead of return leg ties

Nigeria’s Falconets and Uganda’s Under 20 women’s football team are as good as booking their passages to the Third Round of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Costa Rica 2022 African qualifiers without playing the second leg following their impressive 7-0 whitewashing of their opponents last weekend in the first leg of the Second Round.
While Nigeria humiliated Central African Republic (CAR) 7-0 in their adopted home in Douala ,Cameroon, Ugandan U-20 women travelled to Nairobi to maul host Kenya 7-2 at their backyard to make the return leg on October 7 and October 8 in Lagos (Nigeria) and Kampala (Uganda) respectively.
Ghana’s Black Maidens have already qualified for the next round without kicking a ball after their opponents in the Second Round, Mauritanian U-20 women withdrew from the African qualifiers. Ghana will join the 15 others who will qualify after the second leg from October 7 to 9, 2021.
Other countries that are sure to qualify to the next round on the strength of their big wins in the first leg of the Second Round are She-polopolo of Zambia after hammering Malawi 6-0 in Lusaka just as Ethiopia beat Rwandan U-20 women 4-0 at home in Kigali, the same scoreline recorded by Cameroon’s U-20 women who pounded host, DR Congo 4-0 in the one-sided first leg in Lubumbashi.

Also, Botswana’s 4-1 away victory over Angola; Senegal’s 4-2 win over Mali in Bamako and Tanzania 3-0 against Eritrea as well as Burundi’s 3-0 defeat of Namibia should be enough to secure them passages to the next round if they did not concede more than two goals each in the return leg matches in October.
However, countries that will try their luck in the next two years to qualify for FIFA Women’s World Cup final in 2024 after a disastrous first leg results are CAR, Rwanda, Malawi, Kenya, Eritrea, Mali, Angola and DR Congo even as Benin Republic, Guinea, Gambia and Mozambique because of the slim 1-0 and 2-1 defeat they suffered in the first leg.
