Falconets draw Amazons, Coach Aduku praise players

Nigeria’s junior women’s football team, Falconets today in Abuja played out a barren draw with the visiting Nasarawa Amazons football club in a friendly tie hosted at FIFA Goal Project pitch at Package B of Abuja National Stadium.

The match which the acting Head Coach, Moses Aduku and his coaching crew used to test the readiness of the Falconets players ahead of the crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup African qualifier tie between Nigeria and Burkina Faso in a fortnight, lived up to its billing as the Amazons stretched the young team to the limit.

It was a game of two halves with Amazons led by former Falconets chief coach, Christopher Danjuma dominating the Falconets in the second half after surviving the first half incessant pressures from the national team. Both sides could not score until the full 90 minutes of the encounter.

The was watched by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) top officials including General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi; Technical Director, Elder Bitrus Bewarang; Asst. Director (Technical), Siji Lagunju; Special Assistant to NFF President on Women Football Affairs, Harry Awurumibe and President, Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Coach Ladan Bosso.

Meanwhile, Falconets coach (Aduku) commended his players for their impressive display of football artistry, pointing out that all players who took part at any stage of the match gave Za good account of themselves.

“I must say that I am very impressed with the performance of my players bearing in mind that Nasarawa Amazons FC is a top professional football team in Nigeria. I can say without fear that each of the players who featured gave good account of themselves. I am happy with watch I saw today (Wednesday). I believe the team will improve with time”, the Falconets coach said.
