Mabo thumbs up Precious Dede’s coaching appointment in India

Former Chief Coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, Super Falcons, Alhaji Ismaila Mabo has applauded the appointment of Miss Precious Uzoaru Dede as the Goalkeeper Trainer of the Indian U-17 Women’s soccer team by All Indian Football Federation (AIFF).
Dede, a former Super Falcons legend with impressive credentials as a goalkeeper was last weekend hired by the Indian Federation after agreeing terms with the authorities to work as a goalkeeper coach for the U-17 women’s team.
This new appointment has been hailed by Dede’s her former national team coach, Mabo who has described the appointee (Dede) as a hardworking person whose works ethics as a player and coach are very commendable.
Mabo exclusively told sportrevelationsonline today that he is elated on hearing about the new appointment from Dede herself whom he said called him on phone last Sunday on her way to India even as he believes that she will do a good job in India.
Said he, “I must say that I am happy with this development. I am one Nigerian who is very pleased with the news of my former goalkeeper getting a foreign job to teach the younger generation the rudiment of the game. Precious herself called me on Sunday when she was at airport waiting to board her flight to India to take up a new job. I told her that am behind her, she is well equipped to do the job”.
The veteran Falcons coach who gave Dede her head-start in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Women’s Football event argued that he has no doubt in his mind that Dede will succeed in India.
Dede was recommended for the job by the immediate past Head Coach of Super Falcons, Thomas Dennerby who himself has been hired by the AIFF to thinker their national teams including the Indian U-17 Women’s team ahead of the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
The 39-year old ex-goalkeeper of Delta Queens FC and Bayelsa Queens FC who won two African Women Championship (AWC) titles with Nigeria and also featured in many FIFA Women’s World Finals had a stint with the Super Falcons under Dennerby in 2018 international friendly match between France and Nigeria. She later seconded to the U-20 Women’s team which she accompanied to the 2018 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Dede who attended the Nigeria Institute for Sports (NIS), Lagos and has CAF Coaching Certificates had last week on November, 23 to be precise signed a one year coaching contract with the Indian Federation that will terminate after the 2020 FIFA U-17 World Cup on November has since arrived in Gao, India and has started work immediately.
