Ex-Falcons coach, Ismaila Mabo took Nigeria to Q/Final stage in 1999 in USA.

The former Super Falcons Head Coach, Alhaji Ismaila Mabo has set a target of at least a semi-final finish for the national senior women’s team at the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup which will start in France on June 7.
Coach Mabo whose record of taking Nigeria to the quarter-final stage in the 3rd edition of the global women’s football fiesta held in United States of America (USA) in 1999 has not been surpassed made this remark in a radio sports programme monitored in Abuja earlier today.
The veteran Nigerian coach said he is setting the semi-final target for the Super Falcons under Sweden-born Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby based on the quality preparations and number of international matches the team has played ahead of the upcoming World Cup final in France.
According to him, “never has the Football Federation supported the Super Falcons like the present administration is doing for the team now. The authorities have done well for this set and for this reason the least I expect the team to reach in France is the semi-final stage”.
Mabo who is a former national team, Green Eagles player opined that the Super Falcons has no reason not to perform up to expectations in France as they have been exposed well enough to compete at equal basis with any team in the world.
Meanwhile, the team returned to training today to continue the build-up towards another test-match on Sunday, June 2, against a club from Slovenia. This will be the last preparatory match for the Super Falcons before they depart Avita Resort camp in Austria for France on June 4 ahead of the World Cup kick off on June 7.
