With the Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament African Qualifiers Second Round return matches only two days away, two African women’s football heavyweights Zambia and Tunisia are in the verge of being eliminated from the qualifiers except they bounce back to the winning ways in their next games.
This is even as Seychelles, Central African Republic (CAR), Madagascar,  Mauritius and DR Congo who lost their second round first leg matches woefully at home are as good as being eliminated from further contestation in the African qualifying series.
Prompt News reports that the high-profile Copper Queens of Zambia lost 1-2 to the Crested Cranes of Uganda in Kampala on Thursday and if they did not outscore Uganda on Tuesday in Ndola, they are out of the next Olympics .
For Tunisia, the Lionesses of Catharge will have to overturn the 0-1 loss to the Lionesses of Teranga on Thursday at Hammadi Agrebi Stadium, Radès. Anything but outright 2-0 victory over Senegal on Tuesday at Leopold Sédar  Senghor Stadium, Dakar will be good enough for Tunisia.
Meanwhile, hapless Seychelles that lost 0-11 to Kenya in the first leg of the double-header second round qualifiers on Thursday at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi is already eliminated before the return leg on Monday.
Also, Central African Republic’s 0-8 loss to Algeria at 5 July 1962 Stadium, Algiers Algeria has ended the hope of the island nation to make it to the next Olympics before the return leg tie at Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium, Tizi Ouzou on Tuesday.
The same faith befalls  Madagascar,  Mauritius and DR Congo who lost their first leg matches scandalously as Madagascar was walloped 4-0 by opponents and host South Africa on Friday at Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein in South Africa and the second leg at same venue will be the same story.
Ghana beat Mauritius 3-0 away from home on Thursday and will do even better when both meet again at Accra Sports Stadium, Accra on Tuesday.
After losing 1-4 to Ivory Coast at TP Mazembe Stadium, Lubumbashi on Friday, DR Congo is out of the qualifiers as
Ivory Coast will do the coronation on Tuesday at their home turf,  Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.
The second round return leg matches of Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament African Qualifiers will commence across Africa  from Monday, October 12 to end on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
