Against all odds, defending champions Nigeria bounced back to the winning ways with a lone goal victory over arch-rivals Zambia to revive their dream of retaining the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in the second round match of Group C decided at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco on Saturday night.

Veteran forward Asisat Lamina Oshoala’s 8th minute scrambled goal was enough to earn the 10-time African champions three points to stay in the race to retain the CAF trophy and a ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
