Ahead France 2019: Super Falcons start training, Club engagements delay some players

With the bulk of the invited players already at the Super Falcons Avita Resort camp in the Austrian city of Bad Tatzmannsdorf outside of Vienna, the technical crew led by Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby will commence serious training from tomorrow morning (Wednesday) just as he is expected to submit the final list of 23 players to FIFA on Friday.

SportrevelationOnline reliably gathered from sources close to the camp that the team will train two times daily for now in order to cover some grounds while also waiting for the arrival of the few players who are held back at their clubs due to reasons beyond their control.

According to our source in Europe, defender Faith Ikhidi-Michael who is involved with her club’s match on Thursday will hit Austria cam only on Friday while China-based Onome Ebi will be arriving Avita  Resort Camp on W ednesday.

However, all the four goalkeepers who are incidentally home-based are in camp alongside the outfield players who travelled from Abuja on Monday. They are Chiamaka Nnadozie, Alaba Jonathan, Christy Ohiaeriaku and Tochukwu Oluehi. The players are Alice Ogebe, Uchenna Kanu, Evelyn Nwabuoku and  Chidinma Okeke.

Some of the foreign-based players already in camp are Skipper Desire Oparanozie; Brighton & Hoves striker- Ini-Abasi Umotong; Francesca Ordega; Chinaza Uchendu and Ngozi Ebere.

The Falcons are using the same facilities the Super Eagles used as training camp before the last FIFA World Cup in Russia. The team will also be there to perfect their tactics and strategies at the before leaving for France on June 4 for the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals holding from June 7 to July 7, 2019.
