UEFA Champs League Final: Oshoala scores in Barcelona’s 1-4 loss to Lyon

For Nigeria’s Barcelona Female team attacker, Asisat Lamina Oshoala it was too little too late as her 89th minute goal did not save her club from suffering a comprehensive 4-1 defeat in the hands of French giants, Lyon in the final of the 2019 UEFA Women’s Champions League final this Saturday evening at Ferencvaros Stadium in Budapest

Oshoala who switched from a Chinese club to Barcelona last January was a second half substitute in the match dominated by Lyon.  And the efforts of the team paid off as early as in the 5th minute when Berg Marozsan , a native of Hungary put Lyon ahead to the shock of Barcelona players.

But before the coach Lluis Cortes handled Barcelona could recover from the early goal, Lyon’s wonder-girl, Ada Hegerberg went goal-crazy by banging in a hat-trick and she did it within a space of 16 minutes during the first half to blow Barcelona away in the game.  Hegerberg scored her three goals in the 14th, 19th and 30th minutes respectively.

By this victory Lyon, a team packed with international talents eased to a fourth UWCL title in a row and also hold a record Six Champions League titles having made the final eight times since 2010.

In contrast, Barca with Nigeria’s Oshoala played in their first ever Champions League final after beating Bayern Munich in the last four to become the first Spanish team to reach the final.
