    Nigeria has been drawn against Sudan or Comoros in the African qualifying phase of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday conducted the draws of the global tournament at CAF’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
    The 10-time African champions Nigeria, which was drawn bye, will play against the winner of Round One fixtures between Sundan and Comoros in the weekend of October 5 and 13, 2026.
    However, should Nigeria eliminate Sudan or Comoros, the West Africans will have a tough task of facing either Congo or Morocco  in Round Three of the qualifiers slated for the weekend of February 23 and March 6, 2027.
    The draw event, which was streamed live on CAF TV from 15h00 local time (1 pm Nigerian time), saw other 32 countries that entered for the global women’s football competition discovered their opponents, including tough fixtures between rising North African country Tunisia facing Senegal in Round Two; DR Congo against Cotè d’Ivoire and the battle of West Africans between Mali and Benin Republic.
    The 35 countries involved in this qualifying campaign as  Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
    The competition will take place in five qualifying rounds, with two teams to represent Africa at the Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament, scheduled for 11 to 29 July 2028.
