Determined to make a good impression on their retun to Africa’s biggest women’s football competition in Morocco next month, Ghana’s Black Queens boosted their pre-Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) records with an impressive 3-1 victory over the Scorchers of Malawi in friendly match played at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane, Morocco on Saturday, Prompt News reports.

This is even as the Ghanaians who recently lost their two international friendlies against neighbours Ivory Coast got off to a great start in today’s match as enterprising forward Doris Boaduwaa scored a hat-trick although a slight error in the 15th minute put the Malawians in front through a Sani Tendai free kick.
However, Boaduwaa equalized for the  Black Queens through a spot kick on the 23rd minute after Alice Kusi was brought down in the box.
The attacker was to add her second of the day in the 31st minute with a solo long-range effort after latching on to a loose ball at the edge of the box.
Princella Adubea’s run on the left wing set up Boaduwaa again, in a nervy finish with a header seven minutes from full time to seal the 3-1 victory and also  hit a hat-trick on the day.
Head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren made some slight changes to the starting XI that played in Ivory Coast last month, with four alterations. Ampem Darkoa’s Nancy Amoh got her first start, and Princella Adubea returned to her favorite right-wing role once more.
The Black Queens will face Benin Republic, who replaces Botswana, in the second pre-WAFCON friendly on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the same venue in Morocco before concluding their three-country international friendlies with a blockbuster tie against arch-rivals, Super Falcons of Nigeria on June 29, 2025 at Lanouria Complex in a must-win showdown.
The Black Queens, who missed the 2022 edition
will face the WAFCON defending champions South Africa in their first Group C match on July 7, 2025.
