Heads Up… Three Super Falcons players fight for the ball with a Brazilian player last Thursday in France

Despite losing the first match 0-1 to Canarinhas of Brazil on Thursday in Bordeaux, Super Falcons players are in high spirit ahead of the make or break Group C second match against the reigning World Cup champions, Spain at Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday.

The team’s optimism is unconnected with the fact that both the players and coaching staff have since received all their entitlements including training camp and competition allowances even before taking to the field in their first match against Brazil.
Prompt News reports that  Sports Minister, Senator John Ewan Enoh had revealed before the start of Paris 2024 Olympics that the Nigerian contingent to the Games have been paid their foreign camping allowances ahead of Friday’s opening ceremony in Paris.
“Ensuring our athletes are well-prepared and motivated is a top priority. We are committed to providing all necessary support to help them excel on the global stage”.
“Our athletes have shown incredible dedication and resilience, and we believe they are ready to make the nation proud”, Enoh told the press earlier in the week.
A team member who pleaded anonymity confirmed that both domestic and foreign camping allowances of athletes including Nigeria’s senior women’s football team’s players, coaching crew and backroom staff have been disbursed to them.
In the light of this, the Super Falcons who landed in Nantes yesterday and have settled down in Westotel Nantes Atlantique are said to be psychologically prepared for the job at hand especially their second game.
It was gathered that although they lost their first match against Brazil, the 11-time African champions believe they have all to play against La Roja who defeated Japan 2-1 in their first Group C tie before Nigeria took on Brazil in Bordeaux.
