Two-time FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finalists, the Falconets of Nigeria will begin the quest for the ticket to represent Africa in the 2022 edition in Costa Rica on September 24 when Nigeria and Central African Republic (CAR) will clash in the second round first leg of the African qualifiers.
The Nigeria versus CAR qualifier match will hold in Bangui, capital of CAR, in the weekend of September 23, 24 and 25 while the second leg is slated for Nigeria in October 8 or 9.
According to the CAF fixtures obtained by Sportsrevelation the Second Round of the African qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tagged
‘Costa Rica 2022’, which will take place in September and October 2021, will also see powerhouses Ghana travel to Mauritania for the first leg while Cameroon will wait for the winner of the yet to be decided match between Sao Tome et Principe versus DR Congo.

Meanwhile, the Falconets continued their build up towards the first leg encounter with an emphatic 5-0 victory over amateur league club, Beautiful Tours FC of Abuja in test match played at FIFA Goal Project pitch at National Stadium Package on Saturday just as the Head Coach Christopher Danjuma Musa revealed that he will use the match to evaluate each of the 35 players in camp to know those who can fit into his plans.
The veteran women’s football coach who has handled two previous sets of Nigeria’s U-17 and -U20 teams also said that it is too early to pick the squad that will face Central Africa Republic in the face of the inability of women players to kick into gear fast like their male counterparts although he praised the quality he saw in Saturday’s friendly match .
