EXCLUSIVE: US-based Oshoala, Alozie, Abiodun, others, arrive Morocco ahead of Super Falcons

A record six time winner of the prestigious African Women’s Player of the Year Award Asisat Lamina Oshoala and two other United States-based invited players, Michelle Alozie of Houston Dash and Deborah Abiodun, who plays for Dallas Trinity FC have landed in Casablanca, Morocco ahead of the official arrival of the Super Falcons tomorrow in Morocco for their final preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) holding from June 5 to 26, 2025.

Also, waiting for the Nigerian delegation in Casablanca includes forwards Chinwendu Veronica Ihezuo of Pachucha Club de Futbol; Folashade Florence Ijamilusi, who plays in Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng in China; Ijeoma Esther Okoronkwo of AFC Toronto, Canada, and newly invited Chioma Okafor of University of Connecticut, USA.

Prompt News reports that the seven players who have already arrived at Casablanca secured their Moroccan entry visas from the different countries where they are based.

Meanwhile, the Coach Justine Madugu-tutored team, which played out a barren draw on Monday’s international friendly with Portugal’s senior women’s football team at the Estádio José Gomes in Amadora in the precinct of Lisbon will depart Portugal tomorrow for Morocco.

They are scheduled to take on West African neighbours Ghana in another friendly match on Sunday, 29th June 29, days before the kick-off of the biggest continental women’s football tournament.

Nigeria is Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria in group B of the competition, with the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca as venue.
