By Harry Awurumibe, Africa’s No.1 Women Football Journalist Super Falcons camp in Ijebu-Ode is set to become a beehive of activities as a good number of invited are expected to hit the camp today.
The coaching crew will commence the first training session Tuesday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, where the nine-time African champions will take on the 2016 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) runners-up Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses, in the first of the two-legged international friendly ties on Saturday, May 31, 2025 .
The second match between both nations is scheduled to take place on Tuesday,June 3. 2025 at MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, both in Ogun state of Nigeria.
Prompt News reports that Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Spain-based forward Omorinsola Babajide, PSG of France midfielder Jennifer Echegini, former junior international Miracle Usani and forward Emem Essien who play in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) are among the early birds to camp.
Although the team’s camp opened on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode, some of the players who arrived Lagos late on Monday passed the night in the nation’s commercial nerve centre before moving to Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, midfielder Toni Payne, Deborah Abiodun and Ifeoma Onumonu are also slated to arrive in the country on Monday, like defenders Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, Shukurat Oladipo, Sikiratu Isah and Blessing Ilivieda, reserve goalkeepers Linda Jiwuaku and Morufa Ademola, and midfielders Amarachi Odoma and Josephine Mathias, and forwards Francisca Ordega and Olamide Bolaji.
Also, France-based first-choice goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, is slated to arrive camp later today Tuesday, while Portugal-based midfielder Christy Onyenaturuchi
Ucheibe is scheduled to fly into the country on Wednesday.
The upcoming Super Falcons’ friendly matches against bitter foes Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, which will kick-start the final preparations for the 13th WAFCON taking place in Morocco from July 5-26 July 26, 2025.
