Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has won the highly competitive 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award as he succeeded his compatriot, Victor Osimhen, who won the award last year.
The Atalanta FC of Italy star beat four other hot contenders namely Asharaf Hakimi of Morocco, Simon Adingra of Cote d’Ivoire, South African goalkeeper Rowen Williams and Serhou Guirassy to the prestigious top prize handed over to him at an elaborate CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday night.
The 27-year-old has been making huge impacts in club football and national team as his took Europe by storm leading his Atalanta club to win the UEFA Europa League and also scored a historic hat-trick for the Serie A club in the final of the competition while helping Nigeria to finish second in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The hugely talented winger scored three goals and provided one assist at the competition with the Super Eagles finishing in second position.
