The head coach of national U-20 women’s football team, Falconets, Christopher Musa Danjuma has invited 30 players for the 3rd Round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup African qualifiers double-header against Tanzania.
Expectedly, Danjuma handed invitation to several players from the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Bronze-winning team including goalkeeper, Faith Omilana; defender Comfort Folorunsho; midfielder Taiwo Afolabi and striker Opeyemi Ajakaiye.
The experienced coach also invited emerging stars like goalkeeper of Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions Delta Queens, Anderlin Mgbechi and attackers Lydia Joshua of Imo Angels FC; Delight Isaac of Dannz Ladies and Janet Akekoromowei of Asisat Academy.
The Nigerian team sealed a place in the 3rd Round after Mauritius withdrew from the race while Tanzania thrashed their opponents to qualify for the tough two-legged encounters with Nigeria.
The East Africans, Tanzania will host Nigeria in the first leg on November, 12 while the reverse fixture will hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium , Abuja on November 19, 2023.
Meanwhile, the invited players have been told to report at the Chida Hotel in Utako, Abuja, on Sunday, 22nd October.
