Maureen Mmadu Kiddies Academy girls yesterday fell 7-0 to the superior firepower of more matured Sporting Club Casablanca women’s team in their third match in the tour of Morocco.
The visiting Nigeria academy club which played out a 2-2 draw on Wednesday with Hilal Temara Ladies of Casablanca could not replicate the heroics as Sporting Club Casablanca women’s pounced on the younger Maureen Mmadu Kiddies from the first blast of referee Rachid Hilal’s whistle.
Apparently tired of playing three matches within a week, the young Nigerians bowed easily to the more experienced opponents just as the draw with Hilal Temara Ladies was the Nigerian team’s second match in Casablanca after they lost the first game 4-1 last Monday to Wydad Athletic Casablanca (WAC) in the week-long training tour of Morocco.
Speaking from the team’s base in Casablanca, Head Coach and Proprietress, Maureen Mmadu defended her players, saying: “Sporting Club Casablanca players are far bigger than our girls and are also skillful”.
Mmadu, a former Super Falcons midfielder and ex-Assistant Coach to the last FIFA Women’s World Cup final in France however said that her young players have nothing to be ashamed of despite the heavy defeat.
Said she: “We are here in Morocco to acquire football knowledge. All my players have not travelled out of Nigeria before and they are not even playing in the Nigerian leaque yet hence they have got a draw in the second match. I am happy with our progress”.
