Less than four weeks to the start of the biggest Afrcan football fiesta, the Afrca Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, the country’s Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie has assured the world that the event will be successfully organized without any Covid-19 related hitches.
It was exclusively gathered from a reliabe source in Cameroon that the Minister who has been holding meetings with the visiting Special Team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday declared that AFCON can start immediately because Cameroon is very safe from the pandemic, pointing out that the number of Covid-19 cases in the country very low.
According to the Public Health Minister: “Cameroon is one of the countries with low rate of Covid-19 cases and I must say that the numbers in Cameroon are encouragingly low which creates a suitable environment for the organization of the forthcoming competition in the country”.
Speaking further Dr. Malachie said: “The Covid-19 curve is sharply down in Cameroon. A Covid-19 free AFCON is therefore, guaranteed.
He however encouraged citizens of Cameroon to get themselves freely vaccinated to further facilitate the smooth hosting of the football festival and other activities.
“Let us vaccinate ourselves massively and test ourselves for free and it will be over. For the rest , our team know what to do at anytime before, during and after the AFCON”, the Public Health Minister assured.
