‘The Assassin’…Sanaa Mssuody of ASFAR Morocco who singlehandedly destroyed Rivers Angels of Nigeria 3-0 in Egypt. She scored a hat-trick in the match on Saturday.
A hat-trick by Sanaa Mssuody was all that AS FAR of Morocco needed to defeat hapless Nigeria’s Rivers Angels FC in the first Group B match of the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt on Saturday evening.
The enterprising Mssoudy scored her first of the three goals in the encounter played at El Salem Stadium in Cairo, Egypt in the 30th minute just as her second in the 72nd minute was eye-catching.
She turned two Rivers Angels defenders inside out before doubling her side’s lead with a stunning goal which beat goalkeeper, Charlotte Adjei hands down.
ASFAR FC captain Ghizlane Chebbak did a great job before pulling out for Mssoudy to tap in her third goal in the 83rd minute just as the Moroccans showed great character throughout the game as they out classed Rivers Angels in every department of the game.
The Moroccans got the result they wanted by picking three points to go top of Group B ahead of South African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns that beat Vihiga Queens of Kenya 1-0 in the first match of the group earlier on Saturday.
The Nigerian women’s football league reigning champions that arrived Egypt late for the competition could not score even one goal to show for their efforts in the 90 minutes of the match.

Rivers Angels’ Head Coach, Edwin Okon of who was recently appointed as a Scouting Coach of the Super Falcons by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently started the game with Ghanaian goalkeeper, Adjei in goal alongside Mamuzo Edafe, Rofiat Imuran, Oluwatosin Demehin, Ifeoma Ikenokwalu, Rose Ekong, Deborah Abiodun, Maryann Ezenagu, Oghenebrume Ikehua, Monday Gift, and Evelyn Nwabuoku.
His Moroccan counterpart El Houmaine started the game with goalie Khadija E-rmichi, Fatima Dahmos, Ghizlane Chebbak, Ibtissam Jraidi, Najat Badri, Fatima Tagnaout, Siham Boukhami, Aziza Rabbah, Ghizlane Chhiri, Hanane Ait Elhaj, and Mssoudy.
Elsewhere, Melinda Kgadiete of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies scored a fourth-minute goal to lead her club to beat Vihiga Queens of Kenya 1-0 in the first group B game at the same venue.
