With the conclusion of the zonal qualifying matches, the first edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League sponsored by Total Energie now has a kick-off date.
The competition which is scheduled to hold in Egypt will be played in the capital,Cairo, from November 5 to 19, according to information posted on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) website.
A total of eight clubs representing eight top football playing nations in Africa will participate at the inaugural edition of the tournament, with two representatives from the host region, North Africa as well as from the zone that produced the defending Champions of the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), West Africa Football Union (WAFU-B) zone.

The other four representatives are from WAFU-A, COSAFA (Southern Africa), CECAFA (East Africa), and UNIFFAC (Central Africa).
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s flagbearers, Rivers Angels FC have intensified their training in Port Harcourt in a bid to put up a credible performance in Egypt when the compettion starts. The has also added some new players to its rank after losing two others to foreign clubs.
Head Coach and AWCON trophy winning gaffer, Edwin Edem Okon has told Sportsrevelation that his players are focused on the big assignment ahead just as the team trains twice daily in Port Harcourt since they resumed from short break after the WAFU-B tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
