Team USA wallop Mexico 4-0, extends unbeaten run to 43

Two weeks after defeating Nigeria 2-0 in the Summer Series finale in Austin, Texas, reigning World Champions, United States Women National Team (USWNT) continue their unbeaten run with an emphatic 4-0 win over Mexico in their Send-Off Series international friendly match on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Rentschler Field, East Hartford.
Mewis Sisters, Kristie, and Samantha combined for America’s first goal in the 21st minute with the former assisting the latter for the first goal of the game and in the 39th minute, Megan Rapinoe set up Christen Press for USWNT’s second goal.

Alex Morgan’s pass to Tobin Heath in the 74th minute produced the third goal while Christen Press scored the fourth goal in the 85th minute off an assist from Tierna Davidson.

The Americans will play the same opponent on July 5 in what will be the final pre-tournament match, before traveling to Tokyo for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan where they will meet Australia, Sweden, and New Zealand in the group stage.
USWNT has been playing an average of one match par month since this year ahead the Team USA participation in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
