For bringing honour to Nigeria and Lagos state, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday announced the reward of 3-bedroom
flat to the First Olympic Gold Medalist in Nigeria and in Africa, Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara (MON) to fulfill a 25-year pledge of the Government back then made to the ex- Long Jumper.
The promise was made to her after the multi-talented athlete won Long Jump Gold for Nigeria at Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and since then past Lagos state governments have failed to fulfil the promise.

However, Sanwo-Olu on Thursday at an elaborate ceremony in Lagos handed the documents and keys to the flat to Chioma who was a Pioneer member of the Super Falcons squad to the First FIFA Women’s World Cup final held in China in 1991.
The house according to Governor of Lagos State is located at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Housing Estate, Iponri near Contain West Africa Plc.
Mrs Chioma is now an Assitant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the Nigeria Police Force.
