At last, Buhari fulfils FG’s promise, hands over houses to Super Eagles 1994 set

For former members of Nigeria’s senior men football team, its a case of better late than never as President Muhammadu Buhari has approved allocation of three-bedroom houses for the Super Eagles Squad that won the African Cup of Nations in Tunis, Tunisia, in 1994, making real a promise made by the Federal Government several years ago.

This cheering news was disclosed by Garba Shehu, President’s Senior Special Adviser (SSA) on Media and Publicity in  a statement on Thursday.

Part of the statement reads, “Following a memo by Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the President approved the allocations in their states of preference, noting that six players and three technical crews received their houses already.

“The players are: Peter Rufai, Alloy Agu, Ike Shorounmu, Uche Okechukwu, Samson Siasia, Efan Ekoku, Sunday Oliseh, Benedict Iroha, Isaac Semitoje, Mutiu Adepoju, Emmanuel Amunike, Victor Ikpeba, Austin Eguavoen and Wilfred Agbonavbare (Deceased).

“Others are: Uche Okafor (Deceased), Thompson Oliha (Deceased), Stephen Keshi (Deceased), Christian Chukwu, Dr Akin Amao, Stephen Edema, Col. A Asielue and B. Aromasodun.”

Sportsrevelation reports that some members of the Super Eagles 1994 set have almost given up on the houses promised them by the Federal Government 17 years ago.
