CAF picks Ruth David, four Nigerians for Champions League qualifying tournament duty

Duty Calls. ..Nigeria’s Ruth David during one of her FIFA assignments. She will serve as Match Commissioner for CAF in Abidjan next month.

Apparently to tap from her wealth of experience in  women’s football administration, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Acting Director of Competitions, Ruth David and four other Nigerians have been listed to play important roles in the CAF Women’s Champions League  qualifying tournament slated for Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from July 15 to 30.

CAF has named David as one of the Match Commissioners in the tournament which will be supervised by West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B. It will feature six women’s football clubs from six Member Associations (MA) of CAF and WAFU to select club that will represent the zone in the maiden CAF Women’s Championship League later in the year in Cairo, Egypt.
David, a long standing women’s football administrator who was the immediate past Head of Women’s Football at NFF will be joined by fellow Nigerians Felicia Okwugba. She will serve as Technical Instructor;  Yemisi Akintoye, Referee;  Friday Mfon, Assistant Referee and Promise Uwaeme who will serve as  Information Technology at the tournament in Abidjan, 15th – 30th July.

Six teams that will participate in the championship, include Nigeria’s Rivers Angels,  Association Sportive de la Police de Niamey (Niger Republic); Onze Sours de Gagnoa (Cote d’Ivoire); Hasaacas Ladies Football Club (Ghana); Amis du Monde Football Club (Togo) and; Union Sportive Forces Armees (Burkina Faso).
