I am in the race… Ahmad Ahmad announces his re-election bid for CAF Presidency. No challengers yet for the top post.

Expectedly, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Ahmad Ahmad has today signified his desire to seek re-election for the plum job he captured from the erstwhile long-term boss, Issa Hayatou of Cameroon three and half years ago.
Ahmad has in a terse statement via a tweet Wednesday announced that he has decided to stand for re-election for the office of President of CAF.
The former Madagascar legislature who was rail-rolled into the exalted CAF President’s position by young Turks in CAF led by President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick but later kicked out the ladder he used to climb to the top of African football governing body has been hesitant to announce his re-election bid.
Ahmad while announcing his intention has said he is proud of his team’s achievements, claiming that there have been tremendous improvements in the game in the past four years.
“After reflection and consultation process, l decided to stand for re-election”, Ahmad wrote in a tweet.

Meanwhile, no other aspirant has signified his or her intention to challenge Ahmad even as Sportsrevelation gathered from reliable sources in CAF that nearly 40 Member Associations (MA) out of 54 have already endorsed Ahmad. It is now left to be seen how others nursing the ambition to unseat Ahmad will outwit the Madagascan.
