New Sheriff in town…Behold Super Falcons new Head Coach, Randy Waldrum. He succeeded Thomas Dennerby.
Three years after rejecting the plum job, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of United States of America (USA) tactician, Randy Waldrum as the new Head Coach of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons.
Waldrum, an American who played as a midfielder in his playing days had turned down the offer to coach Super Falcons in October, 2017 and instead took up appointment with Pittsburgh Panthers (University of Pittsburgh, USA). He has worked largely within the American collegiate women football circle and was once Head Coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national team between 2014 and 2016 where he cut his international managerial teeth.
The new gaffer will work with former Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Ann Agumanu-Chiejine, who is the first Assistant Coach and Wemimo Mathew Olanrewaju who will serve as second Assistant Coach while Auwar Bashir Makwalla was appointed goalkeepers’ trainer.
According to press release signed by NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire the NFF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick thanked Philips Consulting, the executors of the recruitment processs, and said he has confidence that the new technical crew will take the Super Eagles to brand new heights.

“The predominance of the Super Falcons on the African continent has never been in doubt, with nine titles out of 11 editions of the Women AFCON competitions held so far. We envision a new Super Falcons squad competing favourably for laurels at the global level, and I believe the new technical crew led by Mr. Waldrum can take us to that level”, according to NFF President.
Sportsrevelation reports that Randy Waldrum will be the second foreign Head Coach of the Super Falcons after Swedish Thomas Dennerby whose short stint yielded Nigeria one African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in 2018 and WAFU B trophy in 2019 before he threw in the towel to take up appointment as Technical Adviser to India Women’s Football Teams and Head Coach of U-17 women’s football team ahead of the 2021 FIFA U -17 Women’s World Cup final billed for February in India .
