Respite must have come the way of struggling football clubs including men’s and women’s professional, amateur, youth and grassroots teams through the USD 1.5 billion available to football community.
This was contained in the statement released on Wednesday after the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)’s groundbreaking Coronavirus (Covid -19) Relief Plan reached a major milestone as the Bureau of the FIFA Council approved the plan’s regulations.
According to the FIFA approved plan’s regulations, each Member Association (MAs) including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will benefit from USD 1 million grant to protect and restart football, and an additional USD 500,000 specifically for women’s football during the third phase.
With the FIFA’s directive, it is expected that struggling Nigerian clubs in the elite and amateur cadre including women’s football clubs like Heartland Babes of Owerri, Abia Angels, Rivers Angels, FC Robo of Lagos and Edo Queens among others are set to benefit from the grants.
Meanwhile, the clubs that will benefit from the above stated grants are likely to meet the terms and conditions which come with it.
