Super Falcons receive 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup largesse

Super Falcons players and officials are currently grinning from ear to  ear as they have finally received their 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup participation money.

Sportsrevelation exclusively gathered that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has already disbursed the prize  money to the 21 players, coaching crew led by ex- Super Falcons Technical Adviser, Thomas Dennerby and backroom staff of the team.

Although neither the players nor officials were ready to disclose the amount they received from the FIFA largesse, it was learnt that the team received 30 percent share of the participation money last week.

Super Falcons handled by Dennerby reached the knockout stage in France, 20 years after Nigeria got to the second round of the FIFA senior  women’s football fiesta for the first time in 1999 in the United States of America (USA).

And for reaching the Round of 16, Super Falcons were entitled to receive a princely One Million ($1m) US dollars but the money was later slashed to $760, 000 by the organisers after the team embarked on sit-in protest and

refused to leave their hotel in Grenoble, Southeastern France after Nigeria was eliminated by Germany.

However, the FIFA prize money could not be disbursed to the team much earlier because the NFF could not access the funds at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) until this July when the Federation got all clear from the apex bank hence the players and officials have now been sorted out from their 30 percent share before the close of work on Friday.
