One year after her removal as Malawi senior women’s team coach, Maggie Chombo Sadiki is back with the U-20 women’s team with plenty of lessons learnt and plenty to prove today.
Chombo will be determined to redeem herself when hosting Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre, in a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica & Panama 2020 preliminary round first leg qualifier on Saturday.
Ahead of today’s match, Chombo said she had learnt a lot from his experience with the senior team which she coached in 2017.
“Working with youngsters is different from the seniors as some of them have never played professional football and you need to teach them the basics and understand their thinking. Some have grasped the basics during the time we have been in camp and I expect a surprise to happen in the match.
“You need to go through such challenges, learn from them and handle the next situation better. Life is always about challenges and what matters is learning from such adversities. It is up to me to prove that I am now mature and ready,” she said.
