Zambia yesterday eliminated hard fighting Kenya courtesy of Helen Mweemba’s 58th minute goal which was enough to hand the host a well deserved 1-0 win to qualify on a 3-2 goals aggregate.
The first leg of the 4th Round tie had ended 2- 2 at Moi International Stadium in Kasarani, Kenya on November 8, 2019 and the Zambians had to use home advantage yesterday at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to eke out a win.
Zambia will face the winner of Cote d’ Ivoire and Cameroon decider today at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, Yaounde. The first leg in Abidjan on November 9 ended on 0-0 score line. The Ivoirians eliminated Nigeria in the 3rd Round.
The winner of the 5th Round will represent Africa in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Women’s football event next summer. Nigeria, the sole African representative in Sydney 2000 Olympics has not qualified again since missing London 2012 global show.
