Harry Awurumibe, Abuja.

New kid on the block…Gift Monday who helped the Falconets to win Gold Medal at the last All Africa Games in Morocco scored a brace today for Super Falcons in Abuja.

A brace from youth international, Monday Gift and another goal by All Africa Games Gold medallist, Cynthia Aku helped the Super Falcons to beat visiting Kogi Confluence Queens FC 3-0 in a friendly match in Abuja today.

The match which was played at the Goal Project pitch, Package B, Abuja National Stadium was part of the build up to the Tokyo 2010 Olympics African qualifier match between Nigeria and Cote d Ivoire billed for Abidjan next week.

Super Falcons interim Head Coach, Christopher Musa Danjuma who was called in to manage the team in the absence of Coach Thomas Dennerby is using the match to guage the readiness of the players for the tricky Olympics qualifier match against the Ivoirens.

Interestingly the scorers of the three goals, Monday and Aku are the regulars in the Falconets team which Danjuma led to the Gold medal win at the last All Africa Games in Morocco.

Meanwhile the seven invited foreign-based players were not part of the friendly tie as the can only join the camp during the FIFA Free Window period which will start next week.
