Battle of Lagos : Dennerby to unleash pros on Algeria

Super Falcons Head Coach Thomas Dennerby is set to parade the France 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup stars tomorro’s return leg match of 2020 Tokyo Olympics  CAF women’s football qualifiers between Nigeria and Algeria slated for Agege stadium,  Lagos.

Six invited foreign-based professionals who could not make it to Blida, Algeria for the first leg tie due to club duties have joined the team to beef up the squad of all home-based players who defeated the Algerians 2-0 at their back yard  last Wednesday.

The overseas-based Falcons who are in strong contention to start tomorrow are FC Barcelona Feminine striker,  Asisat Oshoala and Scandinavian legions- Osinachi Ohale, Ngozi Ebere, Rasheedat Ajibade, Sonia Okobi and Francesca Ordega.

Although Nigeria holds an enviable 2-0 away win advantage, Dennerby does not want to take chances as he will like to win every match on the road to pick the Tokyo Olympics ticket ahead any other team in African continent.

A closer look at his team’s last training session at Agege stadium today showed that the experienced football tactician will deploy his usuall 4-3-3 formation which is expected to trouble the Algerians.

With the quality of prayers at the disposal of the coach, the question tomorrow will be how many goals more will the reigning African Champions  (Nigeria) score against Algeria in Lagos.

Fast-rising defender, Glory Ogbonna;  midfield enforcers Regina Out and goalkeeper, Toochukwu Oluehi are sure starts just as Dennerby will be spoilt for choices in the attack where a handful of good players will be waiting for their chances to explode.

Unfortunately, the Algerians can only play and pray to mitigate the damage and danger the Nigerians pose as anything less than a good football display and a reasonable  scoreline by the Super Falcons will be termed to be a failure for the host hence an upset is not possible for the visitors.
