Nigeria’s New Sports Minister, Dare promises total reorientation in the ministry

Nigeria’s New Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare

Newly sworn-in Minister of Sports and Youth Development have promised to take sports and youth development to the next level in accordance with the vision and mission of the President Mohammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

Speaking exclusively this afternoon at the lobby of Aso Rock Villa, Abuja After he and 42 others were assigned portfolios by President Buhari   Dare gave an insight of his policy thrust in the ministry.

Said him, “First and foremost the ministry stands on two legs. Youth development and sports development”.

“I think we are going to see a total reorientation. We are going to  have necessary crucial conversation and engagement with all stakeholders when necessary to be able to empower not just the youths but also to develop sports to bring it at par with global 21st  century sport”.

“So we go to work from today and it can be done because we have the resources, we have the personnel and we have the expertise”.

Dare who was an Executive Director, Consumer Consultative Council of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC)  before he was appointed to the new position by President Buhari also hinted that he will step on toes if need be to achieve success in his new job.

According to him, “We will settle down we will have conversations when necessary,  some will be crucial and some will be  confrontational but eventually we will come up with plans that will work for our country, work for our youth and works for our sports development”.
