AAG 2019: Falconets force Amazons to goalless draw, host boys team today

Determined to get his team ready to take on the rest of the continent at the forthcoming All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco, Head Coach of U-20 women’s national team, Falconets, Christopher Musa Danjuma yesterday tested the strength of his wards in a friendly match against top club, Nasarawa Amazons FC of Lafia.

But the encounter played at FIFA Goal Project Center, Abuja did not produce any winner as both teams could not score each other in a highly technical match. There were few chances for either side to win the tie.

Danjuma started most of the players he will not take to Morocco in the first half but changed all except striker, Cynthia Aku in the second stanza yet his squad could not breakdown the solid defence of the Amazons marshaled by Super Falcons invitee, Ugochi Emenayo.

The match which was watched by Super Falcons Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby;  top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical staff-Siji Lagunju and Dr. Robin-Jay Okosun and handful of fans produced a lot of excitements as the players gave out their best on the day although it ended on goalless draw.

Meanwhile, coach Danjuma has scheduled two more test matches for the Falconets to be played at the same venue with the game against Abuja-based U-17 Boys Team on the card.

“I must say that I am not too satisfied with the result of today’s (Yesterday) match against my club, Nasarawa Amazon. In fact, I have divided opinion about the outcome hence I have decided to pitch my girls against boys’ team on Saturday and Sunday. After the two matches I believe we shall be ready for any team in Morocco”, Danjuma revealed yesterday.

The 12^th All-Africa Games women’s football tournament will hold in Rabat, Morocco from August 17 to 29^.  Nigeria’s U20 squad will battle Cameroon, South Africa and Zambia in Group B of the tournament

Host nation Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, Mali and Algeria are in Group A.
