Kicked out… Coach Vadao of Brazil’s Senior Women’s Football Team sacked for crashing out in the Round of 16 in France 2019.
The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has announced the departure of Vadao as the Head Coach of the national women’s football team, As Canarinhas after nearly two years at the helm.
Just like Nigeria, Brazil suffered a Round-of-16 exit at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup in France after a narrow 2-1 extra-time defeat against hosts France.
It was the second stint in charge for Vadao, who assumed the reins in late 2017 from Emily Lima. The veteran coach led As Canarinhas at Canada 2015 with the team also eliminated in the last-16.
Brazil will compete at next year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Tokyo as South American champions.
“The CBF is working on defining the next name to run the women’s senior team as soon as possible,” the CBF said on its website. “We thank coach Vadao for his work and dedication, reiterating our personal and professional respect for him.” A statement from CBF said.
Below is Vadao’s record with Brazil
-FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 (Round of 16)
-Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 (Fourth)
-Copa America 2014 and 2018 (Champions)
-FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 (Round of 16)
-Qualification for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020
