Former Tanzania senior national team Head Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke is returning to base in Spain to continue to improve himself technically and tactically for the next assignment that will come his way.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets exclusively revealed from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania today that he is returning to his base in Barcelona, Spain to continue what he was doing before he was appointed to handle the Tanzanian senior national football team.
Amuneke who delivered on his mandate by leading Tanzania back to Africa’s biggest football competition, AFCON 2019 in Egypt after nearly 3 decades in the wilderness, although his team lost three group matches on bounce said he is set to return to Spain any moment from now.
” I am in Tanzania sorting out some issues and when I am done I will return to Spain. They (Tanzania FA) said they want a new coach after the team returned from AFCON in Egypt. I will go back to Spain after finalising with Tanzania FA”, Amuneke disclosed.
The Olympics Gold medalist and ex- African Footballer of the Year whose goals helped Nigeria to win the 1994.AFCON in Tunisia said he will not stop working hard to be ready for another opportunity to handle a team at the highest level.
Amuneke who has also handled Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and Super Eagles at some point is one of the few Nigerian coaches who go for Refresher Courses to sharpen their coaching skills when they are not engaged.
