France 2019: USA beats England 2-1, zoom into final

Two first half goals scored in the 10^th and 31^st minutes by Christen Press and Captain Alex Morgan were just enough for the United States of America (USA) to beat the hard fighting England 2-1 in the first semi final match of the 8^th FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

The early goal for USA did not dampen the spirit of the Three Lionesses of England as they fought back almost immediately to score a goal of their own when the Golden Girl, Ellen White diverted a cross beyond USA goalkeeper Ali Naeher in the 19^th minute.

The highpoints of the game was the 84^th minute penalty miss by England captain, Sam Houghton who shot into the waiting hands of Narher while USA benefited from VAR decision when what looked like a good goal by White was ruled off side in the 67^th minute.

Also, England defender, M. Bright saw red in the match when she was shown the second yellow card in the 86^th minute after making a frustrated challenge on Morgan.

By this victory USA have qualified for the final slated for Lyon Olympic Stadium on July 7 against either Sweden or Netherlands even as the defending champions-USA  will be featuring in their three consecutive final in 12 years.
