Again, the camp of Super Falcons in Rennes late last night erupted in ecstasy immediately the final whistle was sounded at Stade de la route de Lorient, called Roazhon Park where Chile’s 2-0 win over Thailand gifted Nigeria a passage to the Round of 16 stage and a date with Germany on Saturday.

Players, coaches and other accompanying officials were in the state of excitement as the shout of “oshee, oshe oo oshe oo, oshe baba” rented the air at Best Western Plus Hotel Isidore.

Head Coach Thomas, Dennerby and his assistants joined in the excitement that enveloped the camp as the Super Falcons discovered that they have qualified for the next round after all the group matches have been concluded.

The Nigerians were made to wait for four days from Monday to know if they will qualify for the knock out stage of the on-going 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup final non thanks to the Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to France at the same Roazhon Park in Rennes.

While waiting for other teams to do them favour, the Super Falcons have been in pensive mood  as country after country  qualified with Wednesday’s match between Scotland and Argentina ending in 3-3 draw to dash Nigeria’s hope of qualifying for the next round.

The anguish continued yesterday after Cameroon earlier on defeated New Zealand 2-1 to qualify ahead of Nigeria and so all eyes were on the very last match of the group stage between Thailand and Chile at the same stadium in Rennes where Nigeria was denied qualification no thanks to the controversial penalty goal.

But the long wait was worth it after Nigeria eventually qualified courtesy of Chile’s paltry 2-0 win could not overhaul Nigeria’s 3 pionts and minus 3 goals.

Meanwhile the Super Falcons will today travel back to Grenoble center where Nigeria beat South Korea 2-0.
