All Conquering Falcons Arrive Abuja, depart for Austria camp Monday

After conquering the West African sub-region yesterday the WAFU Cup Champions, Super Falcons this afternoon landed in Abuja with the trophy they won at the expense of the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire after a thrilling 5-4 penalty kicks.

The team led by Swedish Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at exactly 3 pm with all the home-based players, technical and backroom staff on board the flight from Abidjan the Ivorian capital where the two weeks competition took place.

The Falcons will not have time to savour their WAFU Cup victory as the team’s technical crew, support staff and few of the players selected by coach will depart Abuja again tomorrow for Austria to commence the final camp before the FIFA Women’s World Cup billed for France next month.

Among the WAFU Cup winning players invited for the Austria camp are Captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Uchenna Kanu, Chidinma Okeke, Amarachi Okoronkwo,  Alice Ogebe and all the home-based goalkeepers- Chiamaka Nnadozie, Christy Ohiaeriaku, Alaba Jonathan and Tochukwu Oluehi.

Meanwhile all the invited overseas- based players are expected to arrive the Austrian camp from their bases starting from Monday too.
