Planners…Head coach of Super Falcons Justine Madugu and his Skipper Rasheedat Ajibade in deep discussion on how to beat Black Queens of Ghana in a friendly on Sunday in Casablanca

Less than 48 hours to the top of the bill pre-competition international friendly match against Ghana’s Black Queens on Sunday at Lanoria Complex in Benslimane, Morocco, fierce fight has intensified among the 24-player squad over a place in the starting line up of the Super Falcons.

This is even as Chinwendu Veronica Ihezuo, who plays as a forward for Liga MX Femenil club Pachuca in Mexico, completed the 24-player roster that has been selected for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) holding in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025.
Prompt News reports that the first full training of the Justin Madugu-led Nigerian team yesterday in Casablanca saw all the players fighting so hard to earn the coach’s trust for the starting XI against the Black Queens and by extension when the WAFCON competition kicks off next week.
According to camp sources, the players have shown a lot of seriousness and have been working hard to impress the technical crew, which includes assistant coaches Ann Agumanu-Chiejine and Awwal Makwalla, the goalkeepers trainer as well as Igor Krulj, Video Analyst and Conditioning coach Per Karlsson, all from Sweden top division club, IFK Värnamo.
Nigeria played out a barren draw on Monday’s international friendly with Portugal’s senior women’s football team at the Estádio José Gomes in Amadora in the precinct of Lisbon.
They are scheduled to take on West African neighbours Ghana in another friendly match on Sunday, June 29, days before the kick-off of the biggest continental women’s football tournament.
Nigeria, Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria are in group B of the competition, with the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca as venue.
