The date for the high-profile international friendly match between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and the senior national women’s team of Portugal as part of the preparations for the upcoming CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco has been announced by the host country.
Prompt News reports that the important match for the former African champions will take place in Lisbon on Monday, June 23, 2025, by 1pm prompt. It is also part of the week-long training camp in Portugal for the Super Falcons as part of the build-up games to prepare the team adequately for the WAFCON challenge.
Our correspondent exclusively gathered that while in Lisbon, the Super Falcons will play two test matches with the Portuguese senior women’s football team with one game sanctioned by FIFA
for the coaching crew to assess the readiness of the players for the tournament in Morocco.
The Portugal camp organised for the team to acclimatise ahead of the WAFCON finals in Morocco falls on the FIFA international match calendar, which will hold from June 23 to July 5, 2025, while the CAF WAFCON competition will be held in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons will next week play two international friendly matches against Cameroon on Saturday, May 31 at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, and on Tuesday, June 3 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta both in Ogun state.

Madugu has invited a total of 23 players including skipper Rasheedat Ajibade, reliable goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, midfielder Toni Payne and forward Rinsola Babajide, for the upcoming two friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
Among other players invited by Madugu are defenders Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin and Shukurat Oladipo, midfielders Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Ifeoma Onumonu and Francisca Ordega who is returning after a long time away from the team.
All invited 23 players have been directed to arrive at the Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on Monday, 26th May.
Nine-time champions Nigeria will be up against Tunisia, Algeri, and Botswana in Group B of the 13th WAFCON in Morocco.
