Harry Chidozie Awurumibe is a recognized national and international journalist with bias in Women’s Football, Television Sports Analyst, Sports Editor, Publisher, Author and Sports Administrator with wide range of Marketing / Public Relations experience at International level.
Well travelled Public Servant, Activist and highly disciplined person with strong drive for achievements in the face of tough situation.
Harry studied Mass Communications at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu and Printing Technology/Book Publishing at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos respectively. He holds OND and HND from both respected institutions in West Africa.
He worked for Nigeria’s highly respected national daily tabloid, Guardian Newspapers as a Staff Reporter / Sub-Editor-Sports for several years before resigning his appointment to midwife his own publications- Women Sports Internationals and World Sports Magazine in 2002. He has also written three Sports books namely Genesis of Women Football in Nigeria (1991); Female Football Development: Yesterday, Today & Vision 2010 (1997) and Africa Football Living Legend: The Perpetua Nkwocha Story (An autobiography) 2014.
A member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Harry has covered several national and international sports competitions and FIFA seminars including FIFA Women’s World Cup- Sweden’95; USA’99; Canada 2002; USA 2003; Sydney 2000 Olympic Games; many FIFA World Youth Championships, African Nations Cup finals and several Africa Women Championships (AWC). Harry was the only Nigerian and African male journalist that attended the 2nd FIFA Women’s Football Seminar in Los Angeles, United States of America in 1999.
He is also a Two-time Member, Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Women’s Football Development Committee. Former Personal Adviser (PA) to the former Governor of Imo State on Football Matters and presently the Special Assistant (SA) to the President of Nigeria Football Federation on Women’s Football Affairs/Interim Media Officer, Nigeria NWT-Super Falcons.
A widely traveled sports Journalist, his love for Literature & Arts led to writing his first epic novel titled: When The Dead Loves. He lived in the USA for a couple of years doing research work before returning home to Nigeria to continue his good work in the development and promotion of Women’s Football in Africa and across the globe.
